Meeting in the Cloud

The new semester started with breezy and sunny in autumn, signaling that every student was one step closer to graduation.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, students had to follow a range of preventive measures such as taking their body temperatures and showing their health codes. For fresh graduates, the pandemic impact was even greater. The reduced internship opportunities to avoid the spread of COVID-19 blocked the important channel to know about companies and learn how to become professionals.

In 2019, Sumitomo Pharma (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Sumitomo Pharma (Suzhou) Co., Ltd.") established a university-enterprise partnership with the East China University of Science and Technology. However, the unexpected pandemic brought challenges to the scheduled face-to-face communication. Sumitomo Pharma (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. joined East China University of Science and Technology to hold a unique cloud internship event in this October.

How to provide the students with greater cloud immersion experience became a primary goal of the cloud internship organizers. Hence, they spent a month shooting a series of videos, planning to show the students the company from a comprehensive perspective.

To fully display the manufacturing base of Sumitomo Pharma (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. to the students, the organizing team filmed the overall workflow of the Suzhou production headquarters in a comprehensive and understandable way.

To deliver career guidance and advice, the team invited three Sumitomo Pharma (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. employees who were alumni of the university to share their experiences and offer suggestions in an appealing manner.

East China University of Science and Technology is the first partnered university of Sumitomo Pharma (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., and  Sumitomo Pharma (Suzhou) Co., Ltd.is also the university's first Industry-Academia-Research-Training base of Japanese-funded enterprises. With this "meeting in the cloud" as a warm and beautiful start, we are looking forward to providing more rich and diverse activities. We also hope that we can meet these innocent but visionary students face-to-face at the next opportunity so that we can hear them more clearly and untangle their confusion more considerately.
