Organized by the Shanghai Medical and Health Development Foundation(SHMHDF), implemented by Shanghai Institute of Hypertension, supported by the Sumitomo Pharma (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., and co-organized by the Shanghai Association of Enterprise Health Care and Management(SAEHM) and Shanghai Hesicare Co. Ltd.. the “Kickoff Meeting of Phase II of PROMISTE - Young and Middle-aged Hypertension Management Project” was successfully held in Shanghai on November 22nd 2021.Shi Huaqiang, Vice Chairman of Board and Secretary General of SHMHDF, Professor Wang Jiguang, Professor Guojizhen and Professor Liyan from Shanghai Institute of Hypertension, Zhang Zhiyan, Vice President of SAEHM, and Naoki Noguchi. President of Sumitomo Pharma (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., attended the meeting and gave a speech.

In recent years, with the rapid social and economic development and lifestyle changes, the number of people suffering from hypertension has been increasing, showing a younger trend. Most young and middle-aged hypertensive patients are working people and need to face a large pressure in life and work. Due to the lack of awareness of the dangers of hypertension and other reasons, the realization, treatment, and control rates of hypertension among them are low.

Sumitomo Pharma (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. realized this issue and has supported the  phase I of the project in 2019. This year it donated another 500,000 yuan to support the phase II. Relying on the professional advantages of hypertension management and advanced technology platform of Shanghai Institute of Hypertension, the project carries out blood pressure measurement in workplaces, 24-hour blood pressure monitoring at home, and screening and tracking target organ damages and changes, aiming to allow high-quality medical teams to help grassroots doctors and medical workers in enterprises improve their skills and theoretical knowledge by online and offline training and to find a suitable management method for young and middle-aged working people to take care of hypertension so as to promote the prevention and treatment of hypertension in young and middle-aged people in enterprises.

President Naoke Noguchi pointed out in his speech, “we hope to help build habits in measuring blood pressure via this project to discover the possible illness and get treatment as soon as possilbe. At the same time, through the smart blood pressure management system, we want to actively explore the management methods of hypertension suitable for young and middle-aged people at work, and promote the overall society's awareness and prevention of hypertension. Our company will get in line with the mid- and long-term strategic plan proposed by the Chinese government and make contributes to improving the health of the Chinese people. ” 

Shi Qianghua said in his speech, “China is currently striving to optimize the tertiary medical system, where grassroots enterprises is an important part of it. The project currently has 5 participating members in Shanghai. I believe we can cooperate with more organizations and groups to make this project bigger and better. The current situation of hypertension management in China is extremely severe. The awareness, treatment and medication compliance of middle-aged and young hypertensive patients are significantly lower than those of the elderly. We hope that through this project, we can explore suitable methods of hypertension management for young and middle-aged people at work. And we will promote this project more widely to others to help promote the overall society’s awareness and prevention of hypertension.”

Professor Wang Jiguang said, “employees of enterprises are the most active and backbone group of people in our society, and their health is very worthy of attention. They generally have great work pressure and have obvious health issues. Only by protecting their cardiovascular health, especially starting from blood pressure management, finding out health problems in time, and managing them well, can they not only live a healthy life, but also keep working better. We have accumulated a lot of data and work experience in the implementation of the project. We will do it better in the future and we are looking forward to promoting this to the rest of China.”

Zhang Zhiyan said, “employees are the greatest wealth of our enterprises, and their health is actually a powerful guarantee for the productivity of our enterprises. Over the past two years, the project has been dedicated to improving employees' basic and daily hypertension prevention and treatment, such as blood pressure measurement in workplaces and 24-hour hypertension monitoring and follow-up treatment services. We also train grassroots doctors online and offline, so that they can get more professional knowledge and skills. On the purpose to serve the vast number of employees, I think we will definitely work together with everyone to do a better job in the prevention and treatment of hypertension in young and middle-aged people, explore a method for the management of hypertension, and also get a better result in the prevention and control of hypertension of young and middle-aged people in enterprises.
